The 2021 “Baroque Walks” event, organized by the “Confeserfidi Foundation”, which for years has led to the discovery of the unique beauties of the Hyblaean territories, took place on Tuesday 17 August at the Fornace Penna in Scicli.
The appointment allowed participants to visit the burnt plant in the Punta Pisciotto district in Sampieri (fraction of Scicli). From the cliff it was possible to observe the Fornace Penna, designed by Eng. Ignazio Emmolo and later destroyed by a fire, which became one of the best-known monuments of industrial archeology in Italy. The event also provided an opportunity to explore the stages of the industrialization process of the area between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. To illustrate and narrate the theme were prof. Giuseppe Barone and prof. Paolo Nifosì.
The ATS “Ospitalità Iblea – services for rural tourism”, a network project made up of tour operators and farms in the municipalities of Ragusa, Modica, Scicli and Ispica, participated in the event by setting up its own stand for the promotion of rural tourism in the province of Ragusa, informing visitors about the mission and the initiatives of Ospitalità Iblea, as well as offering the possibility of tasting the typical products of the area.
Dr. Piero Virderi (coordinator of the Iblea Hospitality project) and Dr. Paolo Ferlisi (director of Mediterranea Consulting) presented the initiatives and activities of Iblea Hospitality to the numerous participants.
